Blood Angels Upcoming

I've had quite a few requests for BA lists as a vast majority of people now have their hands on it. I won't be releasing anything until the codex is officially released for everyone however; it's not polite otherwise. I do have a few lists sitting and waiting and will prob make over time but to those pure mech lovers of SM (like me), don't worry SM still has their place (and with Bikes) but BA do make a different kind of mech list.

So if you have any requests for BA send them to my e-mail and I'll post them all up on release day.

Kirby! Where can I find this mythical BA list. I'm curious to see how many of the rumors on B&C are true and how much is just plain old bull...

I think I have my BA list sorted, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you've come up with.

I haven't had a chance to write a list yet...:(
But I'm thinking roughly:
4x Razor Ass Squads (Meltagun/Turret HF)
2x Sang Priest
2x AC/LC Preds
2x (2x) MM/HF Speeder
Random HQ choice (libby??)

Problem is that it feels a little crap-shooty.

Atm mine is:

1 Libby
Corbulo
Tarot-quisior
5 Lasplas Razorbacks with Melta-Assault.
2 Baal Preds
1 Scout Bike unit
3 Vindicators.

Am contemplating replacing the Vindicators with Rifle-Dreads, downgrading the Lasplas-backs to Heavy Flamers+Hunter-killers, dropping Corbulo and the Tarotquisitor, and getting Typhoons instead.

Oh, I want to be popular!

2x Libby- Shield, Lance
2x Honor Guard-2 flamers, 2 meltas, Rhino
4x Assault-5, flamer, las/plas Razor
3x Baal TLAC
3x AC/LC Pred

I think in general, the 120 point Rifleman will be a better HS choice than the 135 point fast AC/LC Predator.

I'm starting to think trying to "one-up" Vanilla or WH Rhino-chassis spam lists might not be the way to go for BA.

Here's a list I'm thinking. Note: all my BA lists will have Gabriel Seth. I love his model, I love the Flesh Tearers background, and I don't mind running something "sub-optimal" as I plan on BA being my secondary "fun" army. So keep that in mind with comments.

Gabriel Seth
5 Honor Guard - Power Fist, Drop Pod
Corbulo
2x Librarian Furioso - Drop Pod, Locator Beacon, Blood Lance, Wings of Sanguinius
2x 10 Assault Marines - 2 Meltaguns, Power Fist, Drop Pod
5 Death Company - Power Fist, Drop Pod
Death Company Dreadnought - Blood Talons, Drop Pod
2x Dreadnought - Drop Pod

That leaves 50 point to play with, either more DC or kit out the HG. An alternative would be to drop both MM Dreads, add 5 more DC and a 2nd DC Dread. That's only 4 Dreads on the drop, but the DC Dread is scary and it gives a bigger secondary drop. I'm just worried about trying to rely on 20 foot marines (with FNP most likely) to take objectives.

Side note, for those who have seen the codex, does Descent of Angels affect Assault Squads in Drop Pods?

You guys need to calm down, it's just a new codex :P. Most popular thread of mine ever lol...

I agree with GWvsJohn in that BA don't do full mech spam as well as SM but I do believe by spamming Preds there will be a list mix between SM and Immo Spam. Whilst not as effective individually as both in their particular areas, the combination of the two will bring a new dimension to the list. That's what I'll be looking for in my lists. SM spam mech and double raiders really well. BA can do it but differently but their strengths will more likely lie elsewhere.

The mech list I make will most likely be an adaption of my SM list just for a change of pace that doesn't cost me much anyways :P. Again if you have any list requests (like GWvsJohn and his Seth :P) just drop me a line.

Oh and in regards to DoA, I do believe if the unit comes with DoA and pods in, they only scatter D6" but I wouldn't be suprised if this was FAQ'd as I believe it was intended to make JP armies more viable (meh).

TheKing Elessar said...

I believe it only applies to JP insertion. Heh. I said insertion. [Because you can't have it and a Drop Pod, perhaps ;) ]

Anyway...I don't think you can out-Rhino Spam even Chaos with this Dex, but I certainly think you can out Razor the Wolves. Which is ironic, because Space Wolves clearly don't use Razors.

Unknown said...

Eh ya I re-read it agree with TKE here as DoA applies to the unit and since DPods are seperate...

However, I don't think they can out razor anyone. Whilst ASM give access to super cheap Flamer ones but in Elites and HS they are more expensive base + can't get cheap 2-3 man units like SW ^^.

GWvsJohn said...

Assault squads in DP have pods and DoA. The DPA rule states that units can "Deep Strike via Drop Pod"

I agree that it's not the RaI, but I'm unconvinced that the RaW is clear.

I need the Codex at hand to debate...sadly, that isn't possible. :(

Yet.
