"Hey Kirby,

I found your blog recently and I can't curtail my enthusiasm for my 'Nids anymore! Plus you seem to be pretty good at list reviews so I wanted to know what you thought of my list. Another request I have is what are your thoughts on adding in death leaper to the list at 2000 points?

I think at 1750 you can drop the 2nd Tyrant. Tyrants can be pretty decent combat monsters (with Guard to provide some survivability) but they are much better at buffing your army and being combat monsters. You've got one Tyrant already buffing with Old Adversary and I think it might be better to spend the ~200-250 points in more killy units. I'd add another Tyrant Guard to the remaining Hive Tyrant, Adrenal Glands to the Tervigons, 2 more Hive Guard (seperate squad) and then put the rest into Raveners or Warriors. This makes the list more balanced around the single Tyrant whilst still making it a threat in combat and adds a combat threat in the Warriors. When you hit 2k you can expand the Warrior unit (or double it up) and push the Hive Guard into 2 squads of 3 to add the Deathleaper.

2 Tyrants are so not necessary. Like Kirbs said, fill out your points with more HG or assaulty/support units like Warriors, Ravs or Genestealers.

I might actually disagree- Old Adversary Tyrants with Guard can do a lot of damage, and with the Devourers they put out good suppression fire against transports. Between the initial barrage of shooting and the assault, not many units actually want to get into a fight with the unit, and those that do tend to suffer badly from backing away while spamming Devourer shots into them. 1750 is enough points that he's not crippling the rest of the army to make it work, either.

Swapping one of the Tyrannofexes for Hive Guard (and maybe a Harpy, etc) might be an option, though; depends on how scared you are of Land Raiders delivering their contents.

I'm assuming you're already running Cluster Spines on the Tervis, likewise the TFexes. Swapping one of the Catalysts for Onslaught seems like it could do some good- it pushes your advance on the enemy up and makes it easier to get shots with the HG and Tyrants when you would otherwise be out of range.

@ AbusePuppy: You assume correctly about the cluster spines. I've been considering onslaught for the tervies and I'll be testing it this weekend this weekend.

@Kirby&Chumbalaya: I can certainly see how losing a tyrant would get me a few extra tools, but are warriors really worth it? I could see Raveners in the list but beside scoring the warriors seem the worse of the two. Since I have synapse covered for the most part.

I'm not a fan of Warriors really. T4 is just too much of a limiting factor. I prefer Genestealers for the flexibility infiltrating offers and the smashiness of Broodlords.

@Puppy/Tyler; double Rants is viable as I vaguely mentioned and Puppy hit on specifically, with Guard, psy powers, guns, etc. they are still a very impressive unit but I feel they are better as a support element first, combat/shooty beastie second.

Warriors...yes and no. Warriors/Raveners/Shrikes all offer target priority issues to your opponent as S8+ IDs them but hurts MCs and all are good combat units which is what you're looking for. If you don't like Warriors, Raveners or Shrikes are excellent choices too but don't score.

I'm not a fan of Genes but they can work, too. (who said the Tyranid codex lacked flexibility? How many choices did we just discuss...bloody forums).
