My Armies: Blood Angels Jump Pack Army [Jumpers]

This sort of got lost a while ago and was a blargh post so re-posting now since I'm fine tunning the My Armies section (Vinsanity wants one as well so that should be up shortly). Here's my updated version of the pure Jumper list with discussion.

This was the first ever BA list I fell in love with because not only does it embody the BA fluff of Jump Packs but it looks awesome on the field and plays great. There a bunch of variations including FNP/FC bubbles, VV & HG equipment, etc. but this is my standard list with minimal frills. Love the ability to drop 50+ FNP Marines in my opponent's face with a bunch of meltaguns in-tow and be pretty damn decent at combat to boot.

Whilst I still love this list and the concept of it, I've been won over by Sanguinary Guard and Missile Launchers (both at once sometimes). Whilst I certainly will still make this list as nothing beats reliable VV drops, Blood & Nipple Hammer will most likely be my most commonly used lists though Jumpers might take precedence at lower point levels as I think they operate a bit better than the Hammer style lists. You'll notice the newest list has dropped an HG in favor of another Priest and some upgrades here and there, most notably more SS in the VV squads. Little less melta going around as well so may end up dropping the PFists on the VV or running them bare and grabbing another HG squad w/SS. Thoughts there?

Jumpers:

HQ -
Libby w/Jump Pack, Blood Lance, Shield of Sanguine
Libby w/Jump Pack, Blood Lance, Shield of Sanguine
Honor Guard w/4x meltaguns, Jump Packs

Elites -
Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack, Lightning Claw
Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack, Lightning Claw
Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack, Lightning Claw

Troops -
10x ASM w/2x meltaguns, hand-flamer, PFist
10x ASM w/2x meltaguns, hand-flamer, PFist
10x ASM w/2x meltaguns, hand-flamer, PFist

Fast Attack -
5x Vanguard Veterans w/Jump Packs, Glaive, 4x SS, Power Fist
5x Vanguard Veterans w/Jump Packs, Glaive, 4x SS, Power Fist

Totals: 2000 points
50 Jumpers

It looks fun.

I would go with shuffling the points for the second Honour Guard squad. 55 Jumpers (and an extra chalice) would be even more fun. :o)

Just last weekend I borrowed my buddies marines and played a pure BA jump army list at 2k.

Had a blast playing against his IG - though to be fair he was totally expecting dreadnoughts and vehicles. Gotcha sucka!

Anyway, my list was:
Libby, took shield of Sanguinius and the wrath/rage power that gives his squad preferred enemy.
3 priests with meltabombs
6 squads of 10 assault marines, 2x meltas, sarge with powerfist.
and 2 speeders with double multi-meltas.

It was definitely fun dropping 64 marines right on my buddies face with the only "mishap" being one squad deviated onto a tank and were delayed until the next turn.

Not sure this army list/style would be conducive to regular gaming as eventually your opponents are gonna get hip to it and devise a counter. But then you start bringing tanks and keep 'em guessing I guess.

I quite like the concept, but I have some questions:

1. Do you combat squad the Assault Marines? Why/why not?

2. Do you deep strike everything?

2b. If not, do you think the Vanguards might just as well have been dropped for regular Assault Squads as they won't reach combat any sooner anyway?

3. How do you envision dropping this down to 1750 points? Drop a Libby and the Command Squad, or drop an Assault Squad, or drop a Vanguard squad?

4. What the hell is up with all these helicopters? Is there an invasion of California I am not aware of?

1) generally yes. Melta spread and mobility. Whilst PFists in 5 man squads are a bit meh, PFists in 5 man squads with FNP aren't so bad. This means you can't get tied down in protracted combats and are more likely to get FC charges off. And you can split the meltaguns for more damage potential.
2) generally yes.
b) VV allow you to DS properly. If you weren't DS'ing often I'd go with Sang Guard over these guys rather than ASM. ASM are good but don't have the kill power (as most Troops don't).
3) Halve one of the ASM squads and prob drop a Libby. There are some emailed in examples of 1750 Jumper lists I think.
4) allyourbasearebelongtous.

I love the all jumper army and this 'un looks plenty good.

I'd like a squad of SG in there to give you a hammer unit. Or just the Bloodwing <3

Really like your info on the Jumper lists since I've been hesitating on building one until I find a list I like. My one real question is, How does this list deal with Mech Eldar? I know I'm going to need to playtest with Islyfe, but I was wondering how you've been handling them.

must the VV be equipped with 4 SS? or will 3 suffice?

@Chumb; ya can slip in an SG squad. Check out GWvsJohn's version.

@Saab; it relies upon a good first drop but Eldar have a hard time dropping this many FNP Marines. s6 is great. S6 against 3+/FNP is less great. Being out-moved is a problem but you can keep up with them over 2 turns and you don't need melta range for your meltaguns.

@Ehlihuht; 3 is fine.
