Email in: Space Wolves 1750 - Revised, now with Terminator goodness!

"The Wolf's Lunch here. Sending you one of the many Wolfy lists I make. I've decided to get Terminators to replace my Blood Claws for some games. After some fiddling I decided to make it a nice 1750 instead of my usual 1500, seeing as a couple of the guys in my club are now starting to gather armies as big as mine it shouldn't be too much of a problem though. So without further ado:

Wolf Lord - 220
- Frost Blade, Storm Shield, Warrior Born, Runic Armour, Wolf Tooth Necklace

Rune Priest - 120
- Chooser of the Slain, Saga of the Beastslayer, Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane

Rune Priest - 110
- Chooser of the Slain, Living Lightning, Tempest's Wrath

Wolf Guard - 440
- Combi-Melta, Power Fist, Meltabombs
- Frost Axe, Meltabombs
- Terminator Armour, CML
- Terminator Armour, CML
- Terminator Armour, Chainfist
- Terminator Armour, Power Weapon, Meltabombs
- Terminator Armour, Power Weapon, Meltabombs
- Mark of Wulfen
- Storm Shield, Meltabombs
- Bolt Pistol, Close Combat Weapon

Grey Hunters - 185
- 8 Hunters, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of Wulfen
- Rhino
Grey Hunters - 185
- 8 Hunters, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of Wulfen
- Rhino

Long Fangs - 115
- Pack Leader, 4 Long Fangs, 4 Missile Launchers

Long Fangs - 115
- Pack Leader, 4 Long Fangs, 4 Missile Launchers

Land Raider Crusader - 260
- Multi-Melta

1750

39 Infantry (5 Terminators, 33 Power Armour, 1 Runic Armour)
3 Tanks (2 AV11, 1 AV14)

12 Rockets, 6 Meltabombs, 3 Meltaguns, 1 Multi-Melta

The Wolf Lord is for fluffy reasons (though looking at my comp score at LoT apparently that list was a cheesy "Now you see me now you're dead." But I've alreayd read your opinion on comp and agree so no need to carry that on), as are the first two Wolf Guard, who join the two Grey Hunter squads with the two Rune Priests aswell. The two CML Guard join the fangs to put out 12 Rockets each turn into a possible 4 targets, or one very unlucky target. Last minute realised that the Wolf Guard I had with PW/MB who used to join the claws now has nowhere to go so swapped him to a MoW to join the main squad in the Raider, which will consist of the last 5 Wolf Guard and the Wolf Lord. Any point miscalculations or possible fixes you can see?

Cheers, Lunch."

What comp score did you get again? Should of been about a 3.5-4 recalling your list. Anyway, this list suffers from the same problems of a single rock but I know you want to use your LRC so. What I'd do is drop a Rune Priest and some of the Wolf Guard termies for some Rhinos for the LFs and cheap ISTs with Meltaguns or Plasma. The lack of armor saturation if what hurts your rock the most so you either need to get more tanks on the field such as Rhinos and Speeders or go full foot. If you go full foot, TWC are a virtual must for SW if you want to run a competitive list.

I'd go the Hybrid route and try and put some more Rhinos or Speeders on the table by trimming a Priest and some of the Wolf Guard but I know you want a mix between fluffy and competitive so up to you where you want the list to go and we can fine tune it ^^.

I got about a 2.4 or 2.3, so yeah comp is just plain inaccurate (and, well, crap!)

The problem with getting more rhinos is that I don't have the money to get them. This list is moreso seeing how competitive I can make a list with what I have. I plan on making an army with thunderwolves eventually (13th company, will email you the list later). Also not too fond of the ISTs fluffwise.

Hybrid you say, so maybe, say, an extra grey hunter squad in rhino instead of the raider? Or drop it and a rune priest for 2x2 MM/HF speeders and razorbacks on the fangs?(guesstimating, no idea how much any of them cost each)

Your last idea sounds the best as it gets you some saturation. Didn't know you had any speeders :P. Remember GamingDragon is a local Australia company that sells for 20% off if you don't want to order from overseas yet save money. You can also scratchbuild razorback turrents with plasticard/greenstuff (I'll be doing this when I get my next shipment of plasticard/GS).

You can force in IST fluff :P. There was this Inquisitor force checking out how much the Wolves drank, and they got pissy so killed them all except the ISTs who drank just as much as they did :P. There lol

*eyeroll* at comp. That's a bit higher than what I got but again, I had a top notch list.

What kind of razorbacks? Las/plas or just Las for some extra tankhunting. And I don't have any speeders, but I could get some over time.

I've also got some Grey Knights that could go with the ISTs actually...(fluffwise, of course)

And yeah with comp. I didn't have a top notch list. I had a wolf lord pimped out to the max and a raider full of blood claws. Maybe 12 Long Fangs says 'I'm here to win, and these guys will do it'. -.-

LasPlas of course ^^. Comp = subjective meh, we know this.

Comp is a bit more then just subjective, it is usually influenced not by what comp represents, ie JUST ARMY STRENGTH, but by things like repetition of units. I se 2 units of identical LF's and GH's in the list above. That will get you comp hit in Aus. My own thoughts on the comp was closer to a 3/5 rather then a 3.5 to a 4/5 as Kirby suggests. Then again, I've been exposed to a shit load more of it in the past year sooo...
