Email in: 1800 Tournament List for Critique

"Having engaged in some interesting discussions with Mr Taak around Space Wolf lists I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the below for an upcoming tournament. It'll be good to know if I'm on the right track. The tournaments designed to limit spam so there's a limit on no more than two of the same unit other than troops.

There' at least 5 Grey Knights lists (my first game is against one and its killpoints!) and five Ork lists so hence I've got to have eternal warrior for the Wolf Lord and Jaws/ Murderous for those annoying Paladin's/ Hordes. Killpoints are awarded depending on troop FoC with 3 wounds equalling 3 killpoints for characters and elite's and heavy's being worth 2, Fast attack 1 and so on. The aim is to use the thunderwolves mobility to block or kill incoming units once/ if they weather the missile and las/plas storm and use the four scoring units for the later games to maximise my objective grabbing. Runic armour was a bit of a luxury but means I have a chance against missile launchers and the Lord's a bit more reslient against bog standard units (plus you can't get a lot for 20 pts, maybe 2 standards for the small GH squads). Scouts are of course there to pop up and irritate people and the Pred provides a bit of anti infantry firepower.

Overall the list looks okay but I'd make a couple changes. Two Priests + WolfLord is too much into your HQs - I'd drop one of the Priests and upgrade one of the flamer Grey Hunter squads with another guy, banner, meltagun, Rhino, etc. Also, all your Wolf Guard should have combi-meltas. Otherwise, drop the Runic Armor on the Wolf Lord, add two puppies instead (ablative wounds FTW) and see if you can squeeze the points for LasPlas on the Long Fang squads. This compesnates the loss of a LasPlas from the Grey Hunters moving to a Rhino and gives you more firepower. You might need to drop the Dakka Pred for this but by losing the Priest from before, you may have enough points.

What this does is give you four double melta units instead of three - very important. A nice backfield unit to sit around and hold objectives. More downfield firepower with 3 LasPlas + Missile Fangs and your Wolf Lord + TWC have extra wounds from the cheap puppies.
