Email in: Blood Angel Lists

"Greetings,

This is a list I threw together so that I could play 1850 games, so far I played one game with it and it was against a GK henchmen list which I won 8 to 4 in Kill Points. My strategy is to keep all the vehicles together as long as possible to get the 5+ Cover save from Shield. Otherwise, I find this list has good range for alpha strike and great survivability. None of my infantry squads really get out unless there is a threat i need to speed bump or an easy target.

My second list is my goal for 1850 eventually:

Another mech list but I hope it will work. The goal here is to cover my front line in AV 13. The nice thing about AV 13 is that lance has minimal affect on it as AV14 is much more expensive and I can risk losing a few tanks and most armies just don't seem to be able to reliably fight AV13 in mass. In this list I focus on only having mech and the reason is that I am immediately eliminating a large portion of my opponents army due to his (hopefully) limited anti-tank. At the same time I am able to maintain my killing power as all of my tanks are able to deal with the likely few anti-tank army. Ultimately I hope to utilize my entire army against his 1/2 army and when he fires he has to focus 1/2 his army on my full army.

Any assistance on these lists would be great. I was thinking of adding a Landraider and remove some other things for my Librarian to ride in. Also was thinking about changing the turrets to TL Assault Cannons. Oh, finally the Rhino is for the Librarian so he can fire Fear of the Darkness on my turn.

Thank You."

Your second list goal is pretty decent but I'd change your top gun to either TL-assault cannons or LasPlas. LasPlas has the advantage of two guns and is therefore more durable and useful in terms of weapon destroyed results and also has more firepower whilst TL-assault cannons are more effective at anti-infantry and taking down light tanks (though the math tells us they are better at dropping land raiders as well) and with fast chassis, have a lovely threat range of 36".

I must say though that I don't like Vindicators nor am I a fan of the lack of any sort of gun in the ASM squads. This is probably a list where Vindicators can work as nothing in your army is ever really aiming to get close and therefore the scatter on them doesn't concern you. However, the Furiosos don't really fit I'm afraid. I think they are best run in one of three ways - cheap cargo for a Stormraven, in a drop pod or as a Libby Dread so they can keep up with mech. However, these are all rather divergent from the goal of the army list so unless you want to have one or two libby dreads which can keep up with your mech and counter-assault, I'd not bother with these. Otherwise, they are going to have a hard time keeping up and supporting the majority of your army. These points can be spent on getting more ASM in Razorbacks + meltaguns, potential sponsons for Baals, HKM for all your tanks, upgrading a couple Razorbacks to Land Raiders, etc.

If you really wanted a counter-assault unit though, Sanguinary Guard do this role decently enough. They are expensive at 200 points per squad but they will do a good job tearing through anything they get the charge on. The issue is they really need a babysitting Priest as S5/I5 power weapons are a lot scarier than S4/I4. Food for thought if you wanted some combat punch...

Otherwise stick with the mech theme. Grab two more scorers with the points saved and you'll be set :). Remember though, these type of lists want to keep that 18-24" distance between themselves and the opponents as much as possible where your army is out of their assault range but within your shooting range.
