Email in: army for evaluation

Warseer

"Hi Kirby,

I would like to know your opinion for my GK build based on Paladin death star and henchman troops. 1850 points were chosen because I'm thinking about participation on ETC tournament.
There is one open question: in DoW deployment I would like to place the Librarian and the Mystic squad and use the Summoning on Paladins unit in the turn one movement phase. The timing (arriving of reserves versus the start of librarian movement phase) is not very clear, so I'm waiting for the ETC clarification.

What do you thing about this army? What would you change?

Thanks for your time. And btw you do really great job!

Regards, Jindrich.

In relation to the Paladins being summoned on Turn 1 - all units move onto the board before your other units can move. The start of the Librarian's movement phase therefore is when you start to move him/his unit.

In regards to the list - concept looks alright though I'm never a huge fan of deathstars. With the Acolytes I think you really have two choices - either keep them all dirt cheap (6x bodies in Razorback) or make them larger and give them things like boltguns + stormbolters and have them sit outside and shoot at your opponent with 3+ cover. They then give you a lot of ranged firepower and a lot of bodies. Add in LasPlas Razorbacks for each squad and you also have some sturdy vehicles with good firepower which any weakened units can jump into for protection. Back this up with a couple Psyfledreads, Coteaz and Paladins and I think you'll be okay.

This will take some point trimming though and I think the best way for this to happen is from the Paladins as they are already really expensive. Dumping lots of MC + weapon upgrades into them is nice to make each model unique but when you're spending nearly 800 points on them? Not so much. They are already super durable so I'd be looking to take them down to around 660-700 points (four psycannons plus lots of MCs). The Apoth is expensive and you want your opponent to be shooting at the Paladins rather than your scoring Acolytes.

Go from there with your Acolytes + RBacks + Dreads providing fire support whilst the Paladins either play area denial midfield or aggressively to try and dictate your enemy's movements.
