Email in: Blood Angels jump packs army 1500pts


"Hello Kirby Blood Angel lover!

French wargamer looking for advice :) . I'm itching to start blood angels and fell in love with the all jump pack style (cheap and fun to play!). I came with those lists made from various posts on your blog, but I can't actually decide which to choose :)

The second one looks better to deal with MC and spam of vehicules and in general to provide a covering fire, but it may be difficult to put all the devastators in the bubble AND in cover.

The first one has the ability (with the vanguards) to quickly munch through big units/nasty vehicules and has a more "in your face" focus. Anyway I'd like to hear your opinion!

Honestly Lincoln, buy both :P. When Shep first came forward with the Devs w/ML idea I leaned towards pure Jumpers w/VV but now I'm leaning slightly the other way :P. They are both good and solid lists and scale well to 2000 points so it honestly comes down to what you like better.

I'd also drop the 5 man ASM squad from both lists. 4x5 (combat squads) FNP Marines is plenty of scoring at 1500 points. With the extra points I'd get more bodies for the Devs in list 2 (Blood Hammer). You can get one squad up to 10 men (so you combat squad) and have enough points to give both Priests either Infernous Pistols or Lightning Claws. For list 1 some combat upgrades for the Priests and VV would be in order or start handing out the pistols/hand-flamers.

Vanguard need at least one Power Fist or Thunder Hammer so they can threaten vehicles an tough stuff on the turn they arrive, and at least one PW/LC in addition to this to make them threatening against all sorts of infantry as well. As Kirby pointed out, jellying the 5-man squad is the best means of getting these points.
