Another commission painter has joined our ranks - welcome Ultraraider.

Heya guys Ultraraider here. You may remember me as Mike Moore, im the guy who won best painted for my blood Angels army at the Bay Area Open in 2011. I'm writing to let you know I'm the newest commission painter for 3++! My Blog can be found at  http://thebrushandbolter.blogspot.com/  . I specialize in competitive level painting, basically Eavy Metal and above quality combined with a great work ethic to complete projects to a superior standard in a timely and informed manner. I don't do tiers unfortunately - it's too hard for me too below my standard I feel. Hi everyone - my name is Lloyd and I own www.paintedminis.co.uk. You'll see me in and around forums as GLD or GLD1, and I have a little side line as a commission painter. I paint all sorts, although for some reason I seem to attract space marines - not that I don't enjoy a super human soldier as much as the next person! I am based in the UK but willing to work for you wherever you are based. If you are interested then please get in touch either via my website or the comment section.

The main reason I am here however is that I love to make tutorials - and help people learn new skills and improve their painting. I am slowly transferring my back catalogue of tutorials from pictures into video. The first of which you can find at the bottom of this post. In the mean time, I am open to suggestions with regards to what kinds of tutorials people want to see - I have video tutorials lined up for minotaur space marines, lave themed bases, salamanders space marines, Blood Angels Honour Guard and Orks, which will probably come at a rate of around 1 per month. Please let me know if there is anything specific you want to see!

Paint an army in 2 weeks - this is madness... THIS IS ORK HORDE!

Hey folks, a long time since my last army painting series I bring you what is the biggest challenge yet and one that will be hard for me to match in the future!

Mayhem Mayfest is six days away and I am 7 days into painting the army I will be taking. For some reason I got it into my head that I should take orks, now a typical ork army has a lot of models, probably in the 100ish ballpark. In a moment of madness I made error number two, horde orks!

All told the army has 194 models (if my math is correct), that is a lot of models and right now I am realising what a bad mistake I made!

Vinsane Painting Commissions Dark Eldar Done!

Hey pinkies. So I've been working on some things for some clients but have finished a Dark Eldar batch. Hopefully soon are Blood Knights, Space Wolves and more Dark Eldar :P

3++ Commission Painting and New E-mails

So, as many of you may have noticed, we have some 3++ painting commissioners coming into play. Vinsanity has finally gotten off his bumb to test the waters and we've brought on the Wizard to not only give us some painting and modelling articles but to provide anyone with painting services! Unfortunately, both of these authors live in Australia and whilst I'm sure they'd be more than happy to accomodate overseas customers, the shipping and care of the models becomes an annoying issue. I'll be putting together a 3++ painting commission page so everything is easy to access for each painter with some general information, etc.

New Author & Commission Painting - The Wizard!

Greetings!

I am The Wizard. I do commission painting on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

As a founder of the gaming group, "Lords of the Garage", I'm a tournament regular. At tournaments I'm typically found in a Wizards Hat, with a 50-50 chance of being hungover.  (ah, the dreaded second day curse).

 

My good friend Kirby *blinks* has kindly invited me to contribute to this blog of his. I’ll be floating around doing painting articles. The first series of articles, entitled "It's like Magic!" will show how to paint tabletop worthy miniatures quickly and simply.

Vinsane Painting Commissions

Hey guys. So I've got the price down with which I'm happy. It's $20 AUD per hour and I'd like to think I'm a pretty quick painter. I'd estimate that 10 tacticals would take 3-4 hours and a rhino would take 2 hours, as a general guideline. There are extra costs for building and postage but they will be variable... For example, to build 10 tacticals it would be $5 and rhino would be $7, raiders and wave serpents would be $10, etc. Obviously I would rather paint the models rather than build them but if people want me to build them, that can be done too. So if anyone is interested, drop me an email...

Vinsane Painting Commissions Pricing Question and Pics

Hey pinkies. So I was thinking of starting up a commission painting service for anyone interested as I need a bit of cash :P

I do have some problems regarding pricing and thats why I'd like to ask 3++ for any ideas. Should I go fixed cost per model or per unit or even go with an hourly rate? Then there is also an issue with getting overseas clients because our (normally poor) Aussie dollar is going quite well atm so it wouldn't be so affordable for US clients because our dollar is higher atm. I think any UK clients should be ok however...

Another thing is that I need to probably charge for spraying, building and basing any models which I have to buy here. It would be ideal if people probably send over their models and I will send them back after painting rather than me paying the ridiculous Aussie GW prices in buying the models and then passing on that cost to clients. It isn't ideal to buy local GW models but it is an option I guess...

Anyway, the 2nd part of this post is to show of some minis I've done so as to better assess the prices to charge and to get some of my piccies out there for potential clients to see. If anyone wants pics of anything not shown, I've probably got pics of it in my photobucket gallery (its a bit disorganised :P) Anywho, drop me comments re pricing et al here and email me if you are interested in some Vinsane Painting :P
