Email in: Mephiston 1850 list

Help me polish this one up please:

HQ: Mephiston 250
E1: Furioso Libby (ea): 190
E2: Furioso Libby (ea): 190
E3: Furioso Libby (ea): 190
T1: RAS (melta + razorback (which gun should I use?)): 165
T2: RAS (melta + razorback (which gun should I use?)): 165
T3: RAS (melta + razorback (which gun should I use?)): 165
T4: RAS (melta + razorback (which gun should I use?)): 165
FA: LS (MM&HF): 60
FA: LS (MM&HF): 60
HS: Rifleman 120
HS: Rifleman 120

This in from Jason. Well this is 1860 pts assuming a 35pt gun on the RBacks (MM/HF = 70pts). I'd drop the EA on the Furioso Libby's and what spells are we using on them? I'd go w/Lance + Wings but Might + Wings would also be helpful. Not sure the Speeders really help in this list. They are fast MMs & blockers but I think this list might benefit from another Rifledread though that comes down to preference. On the RBacks I'd prefer Heavy Flamers since it's a fast chassis but the list is in need of some extra firepower so Las/Plas or ACs. I think Las/Plas is the better option here as it's more reliable anti-tank and puts out a fair amount of AP2. Problem with this is you lose movement speed to fire both weapon systems so ACs might be better in the end.

So put ACs on the RBacks, drop EA on the Libby Dreads and the Speeders for a Rifledread and you've got 55 points to play with. You could take a Sang Priest for giggles if you'd like but lack of bodies doesn't make this a great idea and your combat comes from Dreads/Mephiston so add some pistols to the ASM squads. You can get 2 infernous pistols and 3 hand flamers which adds a little bit more firepower if you ever get out of your RBacks. You can again keep the Speeders but Rifledreads are hard to look past and this army has a lot of fast elements in the RBacks + Furiosos.

I like Mephy running up behind a wall of burny Razors. Dropping a Furioso Libby for a pair of SP to keep your marines alive and fit in another Rifleman would be excellent.

At first I was thinking of having Mephy and the Furiosos rush forward while the razorbacks and rifleman stayed in the back field.

If I wanted to rush the troops with the llibrarians, wouldnt rhinos be better than razorbacks?

Meph would get targeted out the wazoo then, he needs to hide behind Rhino chassis. Your main combat power is coming from the Furiosos/Meph so not really in terms of Rhino based assault. I do prefer HFlamers in this situation because they really come into play. If you wanted to have a more sit back and shoot list the Libby Furiosos and Mephy stand out as what needs to be dropped.

So I guess it depends what you want :P. I assumed you wanted a close-in army sorry!

Thanks for the input. I will revise and go with the heavy flamers.

That means you save a bunch of points too so can take a SP if you want or another RBack squad or add in Speeders again, etc.

Lets try this again:

Mephiston: 250

Furioso Librarian: 175
Furioso Librarian: 175
Furioso Librarian: 175

RAS 5 (melta + heavy flamer rback): 130
RAS 5 (melta + heavy flamer rback): 130
RAS 5 (melta + heavy flamer rback): 130
RAS 5 (melta + heavy flamer rback): 130

Rifleman Dread: 120
Rifleman Dread: 120
Rifleman Dread: 120

This puts me at 1655. With the remaining 195 points I could add:

2 typhoons, or
honor guard with 2 meltas in a HF razorback, or
another RAS razorback and a priest.

Any suggestions?

DC in a Razor would be a nice inclusion. They can be made cheap and will give you another big threatening assault unit for your opponent to shoot.

Though, the lack of Priests makes me sad, so an HG might be a more conservative pick.

DC in a razor is a neat idea. I just dont think priests are necessary with such a minimal amount of bodies.

Agreed with Jason in terms of Priests, not really needed in this type of list. I might go with the DC or Honor Guard. HG you're a lot happier getting out for meltafun as they don't score so it's a good lead vehicle too (same with DC but they are more punch your face in).
