My Blood Rodeo
Posted by
Unknown
So this is my final take on Blood Rodeo and what I'll be aiming for when I build it though there is some flexibility in upgrades, etc. I'll be putting it together after Lords of Terra with my Tyranids and have all the pieces I need except some more Jump Packs and needed magnets (I always run out). A How To will accompany this army after Lords of Terra as well to analyse in-depth how to use it plus its strengths and weaknesses.
With the changes to how FNP/FC bubbles work I've slotted in a 3rd Sanguinary Priest at the cost of a Terminator and some flamer love elsewhere. I've put back the LClaws on the other Sang Priests and this combination allows me to keep one FNP/FC out of combat for as long as possible whilst sticking in some S5 LC attacks here and there as needed. Otherwise the army is pretty similar to before with multiple MSUs, meltaguns, flamers and PFists and should be a bloody joy and a half to assemble and play. Keep your eyes peeled for any changes and thoughts as I work on this army from August onwards!
Without further ado, the 'Official' Blood Rodeo by Kirbeh Wirbeh =P

So...Many...Hand Flamers and Flamers...GONE! ;_;
finally..
now do a 1700 point version please.. :)
I like it. Still.
@Smurfy; only 8 :P. I haven't found myself troubled against hordes too much yet and rarely use the flamers though it is some duality lost. We'll see how it rolls. Still haven't trialed PWeapons on Sarges yet either as I'm loathe to lose the PFistiness.
@Grav; uh 1700?
@TKE; you're a lady and a gentleman
{^}
1,750pt version then I can run my Dread Wolves against you...I should probably post them up here. lol. :p
Really liking the Blood Rodeo list Kirby. I'll have to play around with it once I get my JP list straightened out.
Best part about playing BA is all the options. Sick of mech? then try out JP, tired of JP then how about all SG, don't like SG how about FNP Bikers, Bikers not your thing then how about a ton of dreads!
yea, its what the GT is in the Netherlands and thus its what most people play at my club. That or 1500..
Its a completely bs points total but i'm in no position to organize my own GT (yet)
It annoying to find 50 points to take off every 1750 list..
I've come up with something that, compared to your latest incarnation, involves dropping a libby, the small assault squad and the Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack
I've considered making the bikesquads smaller but I figured that combat-squadding them was important.
The problem I have with bloodrodeo at lower points is that I have max 4 troops that are also doing a lot of the lifting and getting themselves inconveniently killed in the process.
Maybe you could fill us in on how you actually run the list with combat squadding what into what and where to drop the termies or when you find it better to deploy them normally?
For 1700 from the list above:
Drop a Priest. Drop the small ASM squad. Drop 3 bikes from one bike squad and drop the 2 meltaguns to flamers. Switch other Bike squad from 2x melta to flamer/melta. 1700.
You then have 3 bike squads with combat squadding and 4 scoring Troops. Ya they lift a heavy load but that's a burden of this list. I will be writing a How To on the army which looks into the army much like Tau one but it's a time in coming as I need to paint sorry :P. All my articles for a time will be less in-depth I'm afraid :( though I know Puppy has a few up his sleeve.
@Rybnik; that's just the joy of the new books. Even if I hated 5th ed, I can't get the rage against the new books. You can do so much with just one book and people bitch. STFU :) or GTFO :).
@Taak; 1750 would be similar to the 1700 version but keeping bikes.
so you consider the 2nd librarian to be more important than extra bodies in the bike squad and a 6th terminator?
Yup. Means Blood Lance is reliable and you have 8 S10 A in combat on the charge @ I5 & double hood coverage. You could drop the Libby too though and keep the small ASM squad.
I've always been a fan and follower of the rodeo Kirbs. I'd love to see you use it on Vassal.
If only I had some spare cash lying around...
Hey buy BLood Rodeo :P.
Well, it looks like I too will start a Blood Rodeo. I'm just not entirely sure yet whether to go for your version or Stelek's. I like his putting in more flamers, but you've got more FnP bubbles going and more melta for vehicles. Hard to decide
Hi Kirby,
I'm looking to start a second army and your concept of Blood Rodeo really appeals. However, given that the list was written more than a year ago, is it still viable(competitive) with the emergence of newer armies?
Im also wondering how you'd run the Sang Priests. Which squads do they attach to, and how do you advance, keeping a FNP/FC bubble for your whole army? (I'm operating under the assumption that the bubble confers to units within 6" from the chalice, and not 6" from the unit that the Sang Priest is attached to).
Thanks!
Considering that my "Blood Angels" are also my Codex marines, how would something like this work?
Librarian, bike 135
Librarian, bike 135
Sanguinary Priest, bike 85
Sanguinary Priest, bike 85
5 Thunder hammer terminators 225
10 Assault Marines, two meltaguns, power fist 235
10 Assault Marines, two meltaguns, power fist 235
10 Assault Marines, two meltaguns, power fist 235
8 Bikes, two meltaguns, power fist, multi-melta attack bike 310
8 Bikes, two meltaguns, power fist, multi-melta attack bike 310
Total 1990 points.
Similar principle to the above list except Sanguinary Priests run with the bikers/turbo boost to catch up with assault marines rather than deep striking anywhere. I could make apothecaries with jump packs/lightning claws though, I think I have the bits.
