Centurion Update
Posted by
fester
Hi guys, fester here once again to give you a newsflash:
Centurion's missions have been updated, and we need some serious playtesting!
I understand the vast majority of you are out-of-country'rs, but I will be offering a prize (of some description) given to a random* person who emails me a battle report of your experiences playing one of the following missions: Full details are available here: Missions
We are running the event based on the NOVA Format and it is a 4 tiered system (see the link above for all the gribbly details).
Missions

Deployment: Spearhead (Rulebook page 93)
Primary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Secondary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Tertiary: Thin the Ranks (5 KP)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
Mission 2: Seize their Outposts
Deployment: Pitched Battle (Rulebook page 93)
Primary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Secondary: Thin the ranks (5 KP)
Tertiary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
Mission 3: Annihilation
Deployment: Dawn of War (Rulebook page 92)
Primary: Thin the ranks (5 KP)
Secondary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Tertiary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
Mission 4: Name TBA
Deployment: Dawn of War (Rulebook page 92)
Primary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Secondary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Tertiary: Thin the Ranks (5 KP)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
Mission 5: Name TBA

Primary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Secondary: Thin the ranks (5 KP)
Tertiary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
Mission 6: The End of an Era
Deployment: Pitched Battle (Rulebook page 93)
Primary: Thin the ranks (5 KP)
Secondary: Overrun their position! (Table Quarters)
Tertiary: Capture their leaders (Objectives)
Final: Kill them to a man! (VP)
*by random, some elements of favouritism may be considered if the battle report is exceptionally awesome and has pictures, etc.
I will be posting all the battle reports on my own blog, and the best of the best here on 3++.
Get your armies, and tactics, featured, and I will also ask the other authors to help out doing a mini-tactics review (if suitable) on your battle.
Help me, I will help you, and I might even send you out some loot!

Hey Fester, I'll try and get some practice games in with my Space Pups. And I'll post the BatReps on here...hopefully "Ronald" doesn't show up again...
Same tier levels as NOVA, but replacing the VP mission with KPx5.
Will the missions work at 2000? I'm hoping to get some vassal games in next week but really prefer 2000.
GW's, they should work at 2000. They're basically the NOVA missions tweaked a bit, and NOVA was for 2K, so I don't see it being an issue.
I'm dry running through Mission 1 right now, getting a feel for the set up and such.
I've run through the first 3 and they've all worked fine so far. I'm sure fester will appreciate any feedback at any points level at 1500+ (obviously 1750 is preferred ;P).
I like {^}
I think I owned Kirby at missions 1 and 3. They were good fun and fair. I know you're not really trailing the tiered approach generally, but it's the first time I've played it and I thoroughly enjoyed the added thought involved. If only I'd have started to think about them earlier. One thing I'd recommend is anybody playing in such a tournie have a good deal of practice with the missions beforehand as it involves a lot more forethought.
They certainly are the NOVA missions with a minor tweak, and I give 110% credit to Mike, where it is 100% due.
As Kirby said, the event is at 1750, as that is the Aussie Standard, and I will be investigating moving it to 2000 for the 2012 event based on attendee experiences. (yes, really Kirbs)
Basically, I dont have the time to do major testing, and am happy to reward somebody for helping me out!
Once again, full props to Mike for a damned good idea.
