"Hey Kirby,
I'm a newbie to WH40k and I started to collect SWs. After my first games with my 1000 points army I realized that I need to improve and I found assistance in your blog (thanks for that it's great!). From the tons of stuff I read by now in your blog's posts and the general advice on 5th edition gameplay, I made up this first list that I think is the first serious list I wrote. I still think it could need improvement so I ask for your advice.
Best,
Phil

Overall Space Wolves : 1848 points"
Hey Phil. Very solid list and the only change I would make is to give the WGBL 'bodyguard' puppies. One can easily be gained by dropping the combi-melta but hard to find the points for the second one. Could drop one of the combi-meltas on the Wolfguard as well but not as necessary there. The puppies help the WGBL suck up PFist attacks by being deployed in front of him and accepting charges but otherwise a 'classic' and very solid example of Hybrid Wolves.

On SWG, some dude took a T-fex and down it went. When playing against Wolves, should the T-fex be deployed a long way from the rest of you guys so that the Rune priest has to go out of his way to get within 24" of it?
Whilst taking Jaws mightn't be the broken power it was thought to be, that the Priest can have LL as well, and then just carry Jaws up his sleeve, seems to make having 1 Jaws carrier a good thing, especially if you are running 2+ Rune priests.
It can be used against Hordes, due to the amount of dudes it can hit.
Necrons, Tau suits, Monstrous Creatures and Plague Marines are all expensive yet vulnerable targets.
Whilst Eldars might laugh at you, you'll be flinging LL at them anyway. Now if Deldar are going around in big packs, Jaws become tenable as FNP halves the sting of LL. Using Jaws to make them bunch up [for less being covered by the line] works well with flame templates. Bunch up or string out and Jaws or Flamers will do well against you. ^^,
I think Jaws is worth it even at tournaments [especially if you have >1 Rune priest] even just for the minority things it kills well and having the excellent LL as the other power covers Jaws restricted use.

Jaws is an acceptable secondary power, but I think Murderous Hurricane is generally better and I might take some of the others over it also (cover save, DS/jump infantry defense, etc).
it can be used against a horde but is not amazingly effective in that way- the above powers will usually be better. You should hardly need help against Necrons, but Tau suits (provided you can get in range- remember, those Missile Pods are going to be hitting you hard) and Nobz are both decent choices.
Living Lightning bypasses FNP on Dark Eldar, so Jaws is a non-consideration.
If I was running 2+ Priests, I would consider it, but it's unlikely I would run it with less than three Priests; I'd much rather have a way to fight DE, Eldar, and BA or whatever.

-Dark Eldar don't get Feel No Pain against Living Lightning.
-Nids have ways to poof a Priest that gets out to cast Jaws. You *did* remember to bring the means to stunlock his Rhino, right?

Okay, you are right about the Crisis suits.
But Broadsides are affected as they are infantry.
And you are correct again ~ fiddlesticks!
LL inflicts insta-death on t3.
Shadow of the Warp only works within 12" of such a creature, and the Rune priest will be able to move 6" and Jaws 24" for a normal cast.
If the Priest stays within a vehicle, the SotW does not affect him right? ~ as per FAQ?
Chance of getting a double 1 on 3d6 = 46/216 or 21.3%
Chance of success [not including a double 1] = 63/216 or 29.2%
Chance of getting a double 6 = 46/216 or 21.3%
Chance of >10 [including the double 6 results] = 107/216 or 49.5%
So casting a spell within SotW range is dangerous 42.6% of the time.
