this is somewhat in response to your DCA list with land raiders, as well I believe festers 2nd podcast. He quickly mentioned that a wall of AV 12 might have some favourable results. 1500 is quite a squeeze for even a henchmen list with ravens, so unfortunately running a lot of naked acolytes. General idea was for GKSS to steal a chimera, from whatever squad is not in the raven (could either put DCA in raven, or 3 man squad just for a mobile capping base). Could also be some fun repositioning psyrifle quickly. Any thoughts on improvement or how to play it.
have been working on the list past couple days and made some changes, ultimately 2 storm ravens will not work at 1500 ive decided, just to fragile (for 205pts) and are unable to stand off with anything but horde opponents with the S4 small blasts. So kept the two rock theme, but downgraded it to a chimera, which gave me points to flesh out Warbands and add a 2nd GKSS for added bubble wrap protection for my armor vs deepstriker. still looking for some suggestions, going to take some playtesting to get the right ammount of heavy bolters and flamers on the chims. Will generally hold the raven in reserve (unless facing an opponent i can harass with missiles at range) and try and assault units in the open (lack of frag grenades), cortez will be my reliable on the ground assault unit. Will it be possible to start the chimera on the board (if its contents are reserved in the raven)?

At 1500 I think two Storm Ravens is fine; one though isn't. So either go back to the double Raven concept or no Ravens at all. Running DCA in Ravens supported by GKSS in Psybacks and Psyfles is pretty decent; not awesome fantastic I think as the DCA aren't a one unit kill all without grenades. I'm not sure if adding in melta-Chimeras is going to help the list however as you become a sort of a pseduo-IG list (to be fair, I think these lists can work but not really with Storm Ravens).
With that in mind if you're looking for a competitive list based on the Storm Ravens and DCA I'd look to what I mentioned before. GKSS and Purifiers w/Psybacks and Psyfledreads for ranged support. Use the Stormravens as gunboats until units get exposed and then move them forward to finish off units/protect your units in midfield. Coteaz + an Inquisitor can bring special grenades to each DCA unit and make them scoring and adding Hammerhand potential. Even then you're going to be a bit light on GKSS (2-3 squads) at 1500 so this might work better at higher points in the end where you can max the Troops slot.
To your final question btw yes the Chimera can start on the board.
