3++ 40k Tournament

3++ con is a go lads (and ladettes)! The details are still being ironed out and a player’s pack should be released early December but the green light has been given and since I’m the TO for the 40k side…I get to brag!

Some vaguely specific details. I’m taking over the Warhammer 40,000 part of Clash of the Titans (presenting 3++con) and will only have influence over that aspect of the convention. That being said, there will be a 40k Juinors (I’m not running it), Warhammer Fantasy, Flames of War, Blood Bowl and Lords of the Ring if you are interested in coming for those or there are no more places for 40k.

Dates are Febuary 18th and 19th being a two-day tournament. There are accommodations in the area but information regarding such will be sorted out at a later date for inter-state/overseas travellers. 1850 points for Warhammer 40,000 with six games (looking at a three/three split currently) at 2 hours, 15 minutes each based on a NOVA format. This means the tournament focuses on all aspects of the game – that’s painting, generalship, sportsmanship and a combination of painting/generalship (overall). Whilst Sportsmanship isn’t going to be a score associated with your Overall score, we expect people to behave like mature individuals and will thus be rewarding individuals who stand out above the rest as being great opponents. Whilst this currently doesn’t interact with your end result, if you are a douche it will negatively impact your end result or get you removed from the venue.

This means a Win/Loss format will be in place with Day 1 acting as a seeding day and day two splitting into five brackets. We’re looking to have between 32 and 40 players (both of those numbers are easy for me to work with) and whilst the missions will be based on what has been seen at events such as BFS, NOVA, FoB, Centurion and Event Horizon, there will be little tweaks as always.
Prizes will be rewarded based on generalship, painting, overall and sportsmanship (1st through to 3rd for them all though if we get a higher number of players generalship will be based on winning your bracket). We’ll also be looking to get the usual assortment of goodies as door prizes so nearly everyone should walk away with something (Kirby dice!). Food will be provided on-site and I’m assured the food will be of much higher quality than last year for anyone who went. This is due to the organisers outsourcing the TO’s to individuals like me so they can ensure the convention overall runs smoothly.

I will be doing a full FAQ before the event to ensure any queries which aren’t covered in the rulebook are. Cost is around $30/head and as much of that money as possible goes into prizes. On-site vendors such as the Combat Company will be there as well.

Anyway, that’s the general information so far. We are aiming to release the player’s pack by early December which will have all the details you need include payment methods, missions and pairing break-down, location (Cherrybrook, Sydney), etc. I’m very excited about this and hope to see many of you there! Any queries I can answer I shall do so below in the comments and will otherwise keep you updated via the player pack release.
