Email in: space marine 2000 point list

Dakka

"Kirb,

I'm going for a TAC list here, with a little bit of everything. The list is different from most lists, specifically because there are no termies or LR and I'd like to keep it that way.

Libby-nullzone, avenger
ironclad-heavy flamer
ironclad-heavy flamer
sternguard x 5-3 combi-meltas, 2 combi-flamers, rhino
tac marines x 5, las/plas razor
tac marines x 5, las/plas razor
tac marines x 10-PF, meltagun, multi-melta, combi-melta, rhino
tac marines x 10-PF, meltagun, multi-melta, combi-melta, rhino
landspeeder typhoon, heavy bolter
landspeeder typhoon, heavy bolter
landspeeder, multi-melta, heavy flamer
pred-las sponsons, autocannon turret
pred-las sponsons, autocannon turret
vindicator

This list has done pretty well for me thus far. The vindi and two tac rhinos advance with the stern/libby and ironclads following for counter attack as needed. The 10 man tac squads get stuck in and shoot things with the multi-meltas while the ironclads destroy anything that gets too close. The razors usually start in reserve and then come in later to claim objectives in my deployment zone and lend long range support. The speeders either advance with the vindi or stay behind the preds. The suicide speeder deepstrikes in for turn two (or later) armor melting goodness.
I know a lot of peope hate on only running one vindi and most think I'm an idiot (and they may be right) for running ironclads, but they work really well for me. I think termies and landraiders are just huge point sinks that are too easily taken out.
Anywho, not looking for a list facelift, mainly if you could just point out any glaring weaknesses you see and offer any suggestions on improvement I would really appreciate it. Thanks Kirb and love the site!

Jesse"

If you're going to run Ironclads, at least give them some HKMs so they can do more damage at range in the early turns - I'd prefer to see MM Dreads here as they give a lot more shooting options whilst still clobbering things in combat but AV13 in combat is a draw.

Otherwise, not a fan of the Heavy Support - ACLC Preds are nice but very static so something which can be iffy for non-BA Marines and the lone Vindie as you noted isn't flash hot. Personally I'd run all of these as Dakka Preds and pack in some more Speeders for increased firepower or some more Sternguard. Otherwise list core is quite solid and a slight variation on the every so effective Dread/Tac/Pred/Speeder combination.

Also - why are reserving the LasPlas? They can start on the table easily enough to provide firepower consistently.
