"Hey Kirby,
Great blog, etcetera, etcetera........ Been in the hobby a few years...... Just discovered your site......... yeah you get the idea.
Anyway, I run a Night Lords themed chaos army, and like it remain fluffy, yet be still be reasonably competitive. So here is my list. C+C as well as a rough comp score would be appreciated.
HQ
Sorceror - MoS, Lash of Submission - 125
Sorceror - MoS, Lash of Submission - 125
Elites
Chosen Squad - 5 models, 4 plasma guns - 150
Chosen Squad - 5 models, 4 plasma guns - 150
Troops
CSM Squad - 10 models, 2 meltas, aspiring champ w/ power fist - 210
Rhino - combi-melta, dozer blade - 50
CSM Squad - 10 models, 2 meltas, aspiring champ w/ power fist - 210
Rhino - combi-melta, dozer blade - 50
CSM Squad - 5 models, melta - 85
Rhino - combi-melta, dozer blade - 50
CSM Squad - 5 models, melta - 85
Rhino - combi-melta, dozer blade - 50
Heavy Support
Predator - ACLC - 130
Predator - ACLC - 130
Obliterator Cult - 2 models - 150
Total = 1750
So to outline a few things:
- Yes, fluffy/competitive is a hard thing to do with chaos, but as long as it can be justified in a Night Lords army (obbys are lost STC fragment weapon platforms, lash of submission represents the sorceror controlling an enemy by manipulating them through fear, etc) I will happily take it.
- The sorcerors roll with the small 5 man squads in rhino casting lash out the top.
- The chosen infiltrate and draw attention away from the rest of the army.
- The heavy support options provide fire support from the back.
- The 10 man squads are adaptable and don't have a defined role yet.
- I estimate the comp score to be a 3.5/5. Would it be higher or lower?
Any advice on where I'm going wrong would be much appreciated. Particularly because I plan taking on taking this list to Lords of Terra later this year.
Thanks in advance
Jack"
The main thing for me would be getting those Chosen Rhinos with Havoc Launchers or combi-meltas (best way to do this is drop the ACLC Preds which are static anyway and grab two more Oblits [aka weapon platforms] in their place - use spare points on Rhinos). Other than that, it looks okay considering what you want. The large CSM squads are pretty blah for the price you pay and be careful using them as forward melta units as your opponent can take a lot of your scoring potential out by dropping them.
I think a 3.5/5 would be roughly correct but expect to get something lower as you have a lot of vehicles, melta and spamming going on which is generally auto-lose comp points.
