"hello kirby,
I've started reading your posts in the last few months and found that you have good advice followed up with logical explanations. I've got a 1500 pt dark eldar list i have been working on, i wanted a mech army after playing nids for the last 1.5 years.
HQ haemy 50pts
trueborn with blasters *4
venom with nightshields, splintercannon 183pts
trueborn with blasters *4
venom with nightshields, splintercannon 183pts
wrack *3
venom with splinter cannon 95pts
wrack *3
venom with splintercannon 95pts
wrack *3
venom with splintercannon 95pts
wrack *3
venom with splintercannon 95pts
reavers *6 with 2* heatlance 156pts
beast master * 4, kymera *5, razorwing flock *6 198pts
talos with haywire blaster and chainflails 115pts
ravager with flickerfields 115
ravager with flickerfields 115
The idea is to have the wracks in reserve and come on to score late game back field objectives, while i have a moving blob of 36" range shooting that is free to move around the board without worrying to secure objectives or get any closer then nessacary. i know the talos doesn't exactly fit in with the vehicles but i feel it adds another threat to my oppanent, the appeal is that the haywire blaster still acts as a tank suppresion weapon but also provides another assualt unit to control the midfiel and provide a speedbump for squads that manage to make it towards the wrack squads in cover. the beastmasters are there so that once the vehicle all go down i still have some hope of damage output.
for the last 5 pts i was going ot add grisly trophies on one of the venoms to stay near the trueborn and beastmaster units so they can stand up ot casualities a bit better or adding a shock prow to a ravager."
Simple answer here is not enough anti-tank. This is the problem with spamming Venoms as those Dark Lance shots add up from your Raiders. Also only taking Wracks further hurts this as you don't have single Blasters running around. Add in the Talos is quite slow and very unlikely to really engage in combat something you want to engage, and I think we need to do some tweaking. I'd replace the Talos with a Ravager to up your anti-tank count, your Beastmasters are a fine combat threat as it is and you can get another squad of them if you like instead of the Talos.
From there the simplest thing to do is change two of the Wracks with Venoms to Wracks with Raiders and Shock Prows. You've now got an extra five dark lance shots over three different targets bringing your total to 21 which is much more reasonable whilst still maintaining four venoms + the Beastmasters for anti-infantry duty. You could also replace the Reavers with another Beastmaster squad if you like for more combat and anti-infantry duty though you lose a bit of anti-tank without the heat lances obviously.
