Email in: Army List Question [Space Wolves 2k]

"Hey Kirb,

Not really a full on army list question, more of a comparison I suppose. Which, in your opinion, is more effective: 1 Rfileman Dread or 2 TLLC Razorbacks? Reason I ask is I'm doing my usual SW Army List revamping and deciding whether switching my old Dakka Dread of 2 RB's for my Fangs is worth it.

I never caved in to the Wolf Guard in GH units, until I did some mental math and realized that they both have the same # of PW attacks on the charge or receiving a charge, so having a WG in their was only beneficial for the LD. Yet upon comparing their abilities with a PF I realized that WG make much more sense in the packs. Plus the cost of an extra GH and PW was 30pts. The cost of a WG with combi-melta and PW was 33pts...so +1LD for 3pts was definitely worth it. The same goes for the PF - an extra GH and PF was 40pts, yet the WG was 43pts...so again +1LD for +3pts but ALSO +1 attack...which was nice. So I gave in :-)

Anyway the point of all this rambling is whether the Dakka Dread is a better buy than 2TLLC RB's.

I'd go for the first list Roland but drop the Dread for the Wolf Guard (you can keep the same configuration from your 2nd list). That saves you a point and then you save 90 points with the GH reduction. Couple things we can do here, first off let's give the Wolf Lord 2 puppies as this makes the TWC unit even more evil <3 (and swap the SS to a TH on the smaller squad). 71 points to play with. Another Long Fang squad would be benifical, let's see if we can't tweak it to grab some more Fangs, too. Taking the 2x 6x LF w/ 5x ML + the extra points to 3x 5x LF w/4x ML gives us 2 more missiles across 2 more targets and we still have 6 points to play with, yummy!

How do you prefer that Roland? The only armor you have is the Rhinos which is a pain but they can screen your TWC/Lone Wolves the first couple of turns whilst you blast out missiles and lightning and when you hit your opponent's lines, you hit like a ton of bricks. If you wanted a more balanced list I'd drop the Wolves for Dreads but that's less fluffy and I know you like fluff & competitiveness balanced =p.
