Crazy Ideas #3, Part 2: fester's idea

http://minisrealm.com/

Well, any of you that have been bothering to read these articles (yes, you 2 in the corner there, come out of the darkness... on second thought, go back in to the darkness please... No, seriously.)

Okay, better.

Right, so today I am going to talk about the idea that I have brought along for a ride and will be a full blown army, and based around a story, and have a fluffy (but powerful) list.

To reference my last post: this long pink underlined hyperlink is what you should click, I started down the path of fulfilling my 6 steps to build the army.

So, in historical order, not in order presented in my last post.

I was digging around on the internet and came across the "free ghoul" offer from Wayland Games / Mantic Games. Ironically, I have yet to receive mine.
I move onto the Mantic Games website to check out their lines, and the Undead really looked awesome, and bucketloads cheaper than the GW models. Great, I thought, let's start a Tomb Kings army. Then I remembered I don't get time enough to play 40k let alone Fantasy too...

It was at this point that I remembered that new codex that had come out ...

Right, Nids. Why do you ask? When I look at a codex for the "crazy ideas" hidden within, you need to start with the core/poster-child units. THE undisputed poster child for the Tyranids is the Tervigon.

Well the thing that really struck me with the Tervigon rules is that they missed an awesome opportunity to put those rules into the CSM Codex for summoning nurglings or other gribblies...
But with these really cool undead models that just passed my nose I managed to put 2 and 2 together and get... tada!

Necromantic Tyranids. Is this a revolutionary idea? Probably not.

Right, so we need now to start looking at the Army list with an eye to having a competitive list.
Initial list written is as follows (I play 1750 in Australia):

1750 Pts - Tyranids Army

1 Tervigon (HQ)
#Dominion; Catalyst; Onslaught; Shadow in the Warp; Synapse Creature;
Brood Progenitor; Spawn Termagants; Adrenal Glands; Toxin Sacs; Cluster

Models in Army: 30
36 T6 Wounds
10 T5
20 T3 + spawns

Total Army Cost: 1740
Now this post is getting long and I don't want to bore the few readers who made it this far...
So we will leave this thought for our next installment.

3 Tervigons are obviously going to be Necromancers, but at MC scale (anything less is really cheating), and the T-Fex's, Harpies, and Hive Guard do our Anti-Tank.
What models do we have available (anywhere) to represent what basically will be:
3 MC scale necromancers
2 MC scale shooting platforms
2 MC scale flying shooting platforms
3 40mm barrage shooting platforms

That minisrealm pic is awesome btw. Chaos sorc anyone?

In regards to list, I love the concept behind the necromancy but would split the HG into squads of 1. Less Onslaught benefit but more target saturation and fire suppression :).

Yeah gaspy is a great model. The idea is interesting not the least because I play Vampire Counts in Fantasy and Cryx in Warmachine. Good luck on this one Kirby.

I might be getting some for myself.
Thats a 40mm base... Can anyone say Hive Guard?

What about the idea of super huge zombies for the MC platforms? I'm thinking along the lines of 'tanks' from the game Left 4 Dead. Maybe with chunks of rock suspended over their heads as if in mid throw. Seems pretty beefy.

Thomas: I like :)

My issue is that I am inherently lazy and crap at greenstuff, so unless I can buy it pre-made or build it from plasticard, then it wont happen.
