Seth Hammer


Well Gorman asked for a Seth list in a previous post and after some thinking, I think Seth could fit into a Hammer style list (Jumpers + Devs) by adding in a Pod. This gives you units on the table to start with if you want to DoA your Jumpers and doesn't leave Seth & Co out in the open to get shot up all alone. The unit is still likely to get a lot of firepower thrown at them but there's no way to make Seth reliably come in from a reserve and fit into a Jumper based list due to his lack of a Jump Pack. So what we want is Seth, Jumpers, Devs, Priests and potentially Sang Guard for back-up punching and a Libby. We'll make the list for 2k and see if we can scale backwards.

We will obviously start with Seth. Before we get to his 'bodyguard' though we'll spend our points elsewhere. Let's go with Devs and we'll take 10 men squads for the moment and 4 missile launchers. Three of this + a priest babysitter gives us 12 missiles across 6 targets for 680 points + 160 for Seth. We obviously want some ASM as well and a standard squad for these guys costs 235 without and pistols. Three of these gives us solid scoring at 2000 and a good amount of bodies. 1545 used and we've got our basics down. Two priests to join the ASM provide the FNP/FC bubbles needed and with a jump pack and lightning claw come in at 90 points each. This leaves us 275 points to play with.

Let's give Seth an Honor Guard squad then (160 left) with a Pod (125). These could really do with a Libby as well (25) but leaves us with very few points. We'll drop one of the Devastator squads down to 5 men instead of 10 which saves us 80 points (105). Now we can add some goodies. Two meltaguns (85), two storm shields (45), two lightning claws (15), flamer (10) and two melta-bombs. We decked that unit out o.O! Let's see what the list looks like then:

5x Honor Guard (1 = meltagun, storm shield; 2 = meltagun, lightning claw; 3 = lighting claw; 4 = flamer, storm shield, melta-bomb; 5 = melta-bomb) w/Drop Pod

Troops -
3x10x ASM w/2x meltagun, PFist

5x Devastators w/4x Missile Launchers

65 infantry

Obviously the Seth unit is a huge target early on so perhaps dumbing it down, grabbing another two Pods and chucking another unit in the opponent's face could work. Or simply running all the ASM in Pods (spare pods from Devs). Anyway, not the best list but uses Seth + ASM which a lot of people desire so let's hear your thoughts.

To take this down points you can lose a Dev squad, ASM squad and Priest which leaves you at 1545 points so with a bit of tweaking, you've got a 1500 list!
