Email in: 1500pt "Lightning" fast necrons

"Kirby- I have been following your blog for a few weeks and I really wanted your opinion on a necron force I am putting together. I really wanted this force to play completely different from anything and everything I have seen in 40k. It is a lighting quick, delayed alpha strike army that survives through night fight. The list doesn’t suffer from night fight because the heavy hitters big gun doesn’t check for night fight. Everything is designed to synergize with mid-range and extreme speed and safety. Here is the list.

HQ

Storm lord-225
Court
Crytek (HoE) chrometon
Crytek(HoD) solar pulse.

Troops

5xWarriors -165
Night scythe
5xWarriors -165
Night scythe
5xWarriors -165
Night scythe
5xWarriors -165
Night scythe

Heavy

Doomscyhte-175
Doomscyhte-175
Doomscyhte-175

Chrometon Crytek goes with the storm lord to reroll his storm roll and the solar pulse Crytek is to keep night fighting in play one more turn if I have to have it and goes in a random warrior squad. Warriors are protected in night scythes which will throw them into reserves if the night scythe goes down. Everything can move 36 inches a turn and is blisteringly fast. Three doom scythes eat whatever they shoot at. What do you think of the basic idea? It attempts to play completely different than any force I have seen in 40k. overall the army has 3 death rays and 8 twin linked tesla destructors."

I think this is one of the better applications of the Stormlord but the problem is there are some major issues of the list the first of which is the points level. The Stormlord becomes worse and worse as the points go lower- the opponent has fewer units after all. The Doomscythes are probably going to be best used with the Stormlord however as they really are huge glass cannons so I think that's fine. Nightscythes working with them in tandem is going to allow you to layer cover as well - always a good thing.

20 Warriors for scoring though... At 1500 this is less an issue than at higher point levels but the fact remains that small Warrior squads don't add much to an army list. Nightscythes are the other side of the coin in regards to Arks as they are throwing the Warriors back to your table edge (and thus protected from fire) whilst Arks prevent damage. The problem is, these are basically expensive scoring upgrades for the Scythes and at 1500 points, that's a lot of points to not being getting actual use out of. Turning these guys into Immortals however, allows them to be durable enough to get outside of their transport and with Tesla, they can stay away from the opponent whilst shooting.

I really feel this list is going to do much better at 2000 points where the Stormlord becomes less inefficient and you can surround your Scythes with more support.
