With 6th edition just invalidating all the work we've done, you can expect more work! However, codex reviews won't be coming out immediately as we want to ensure quality advice. Keep your eyes peeled and leave suggestions for armies you'd like done first though it will more than likely be done based on author preferences. Below are all the Warhammer 40,000 reviews done to date by their respective authors in alphabetical order by codex.

Also, the 5th edition reviews have been archived at the bottom of the page. Their information isn't useless, though you need to know 6th edition to transfer the knowledge there, so if you're looking for something to kill the time in the meantime, knock yourself out!

    imp guard? :

Done. VT2 and I will are going to do GK and once the DE are finished I'll put up some pieces on IG.

Which formats do you prefer? Unit by unit or a general FoC breakdown?
The FoC breakdown is definitely more helpful IMO. Much easier to see what the opportunity costs of a unit are, which helps me picture out how I'm building a list better.

    The Eldar review:

most aspects outside of Fire Dragons are crap. Fire Dragons are as close to a must have as you can get for killing tanks good. THey jump out and die however. You then get as many Eldar vehicles as possible with as much firepower as possible. This generally means Dire Avengers in Serpents making them scoring and then Prisms, Falcons and Vypers. Autarch + Farseer are good for reserve manipulation, fortune/doom and psychic defense.

Everything outside of that is pretty blargh currently and one imagines a new book isn't too far (~2 years). Until then Eldar pretty much build around the concept of staying alive (so one good round of opponent shooting hurts eldar), maintaining movement and using army-wide S6 to smash things down (though mass S7 from Gk trumps that S6 these days).
And eldar review could be done very, very quickly, since so much of the book's terrible.
When the new book comes out Jordan which won't be until next year at least.

Infinity has the rough sketch of it though. If you want any more info drop me an e-mail.
You need to update this with links for the DE review please. :)

In your Dark Eldar Review, the link for Special Characters Part 2 points to the Special Characters Part 1 article.
    Please do Eldar! Thanks :)
Any chance of a space wolves review? The space wolves blog has reviews in it but they are not so well presented nor well thought out as these reviews are.

I third a more complete BA Codex review!

    And the next one :P?
You should totally do a Chaos Daemons review.
    1 reply · active 704 weeks ago
Brent from Strictly Average promised me one. Badger him to see if he's un-busy enough to do it :P.
Sorry to ask but I can't find any review of the Space Wolf codex, could you pleas point me in the right direction?
    3 replies · active 699 weeks ago
One has yet to be written though it is in the planning stages so should be up relatively soon.

How soon is relatively soon...? ;D
p.s. will it include your take on the benefits/disadvantages of a Loganwing list?
Thanks, I saw the first part of the review. I'm looking forward to this as Space Wolf are my next project and I don't want to spend a lot of money and time on models I'll not get to use.
No Elite Part 2 for Grey Knights? Ah! I want to see how recommended Paladin Squads are with Draigo.
    Daemons? maybe?
everyone says they're subpar, and I'd like to see a thorough breakdown why. I kind of like how they act on the table, they feel very unique.
just a thought, there probably isn't anyone who would want to review them, or a terribly large audience that would read the review.

I'd love to read a review, even if it's just one post outlining the best build and why, or a 1-2 line description of each unit with a verdict of "sucks/poor/mediocre/playable/good" for each one.
Anyone writing a thorough breakdown of the new Necron codex?
    4 replies · active 684 weeks ago
Kirby, Chumby and I are in the process of doing one, yes.

Please review the tried and tested tactic of holding an objective with 20 warriors, 1 Reslord and 1 ghost ark. Necrons are hard as hell, ark hides behind cover creating more crons. My enemy gets so annoyed he tries everything. Executioners and Eradicators are really harsh but res orb helps. Anrakyr+CCB against Manticore spam aswell is good
Are you guys going to wait for 6th edition release to post up the nec review? As the new release could completly change a large majority of how the codex plays? And could make oddball options more viable (minus flayed ones which will always be bad).

Or are you just going to update the posts in a few months to realign with how the codex is actaully meant to be played?
Necron review is currently in the works, hopefully it will get started soon.

We still have a good ~6months until 6E is theoretically supposed to drop (nevermind delays, etc), so when that time comes I'm sure we'll all be quite busy updating everything.

Why isn't Eldar review listed? It's got 11 articles already, even if it isn't finished yet.

    Up now, sorry. I'm lazy!
Where's the rest of the Blood Angels review? Parts are missing
Any chance of a deamons review? Would like to see your take on them, seeing as they are a fairly uninque army
    1 reply · active 681 weeks ago
It might get done eventually, but to be honest it's hard to say a lot more than "This army isn't good and won't be until the edition completely changes and/or they get a new book." There are some good topics for discussion in how to fight them, since they're applicable to other armies, but Daemons themselves there's only so much to be discussed.

Also, Chumby has done a really good job over on his blog talking about them, as he actually plays the army. http://bnhblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/old-stuff-day... has links to all of his discussions and he has a number of army lists, etc, available for varying degrees of competitiveness there.
I believe the old Necron book was 3rd ed, and not 4th?

Also, Kirby, when you'll finish the IG and SW HS reviews? Looking forward to it! (Dunno which tanks are the best, lol)
Grey Knights by VT2... VT2 hasn't done any of the sections.

Anyhoo, I agree with the above; I knew the IG bits were taken down for editing but are they nearly done yet?
Space wolves heavy support would be lovely please.
    Nice and informative.
AbusePuppy should rewrite his Tyranid Codex Review a bit in the light of the new FAQ (it IS significant) and maybe his new experiences.
Is there nothing on Black Templar codex?
