Can BT do a thunderbubble??

Here is the next list in a series of refreshed Templar lists here on 3++. Kirby has written a hybrid list, which I'll look at a bit later and I attempted a foot list too. I want to try to explore tried and tested concepts with the newly refreshed codex and see how we can compete. Today I would like to have a think about the concept of Kirby's Thunderbubble.

Kirby's 1750 list is almost a mech saturation list with some added terminators to block and tackle any burly units that may come your way. The dreads and preds throw out a good amount of firepower, supported by the Las/Plas razors. Trying to make a like-for-like list would be impossible as BT do not have access to dakka dreads or cheap razors. They do have so other options though... maybe even better??? We shall see.

What options do we have? Cheap as chips Land speeder typhoons will hopefully take the place of the dakka dreads. AutoLas preds (with a cheeky tricksiness) are a similar cost so are in and we'll have to make use of dreads too. The big differences come in the troops section really. The EC is a pain as he doesn't offer us psychic defence, but he does give the bubble more bite and the rest of the soft-stuff that little bit better. He's not a librarian, but he's different and can join the bubble for Ld10, crusader seals and more punch.

Side note and I've been reading a good deal of YTTH this week and I really like some of the ideas Stelek has been throwing out with his mech BT lists. I'll admit the PotMS ideas have probably come from there, so props to him. I hope it's obviously different enough though.

So how is it really different to the standard thunderbubble? Well how are you going to stop the BT version? 3 Predators with new PotMS line the front ranks, so unless you try really hard, you won't silence them. They can also re-position and shoot with the speeders. The speeders will easily gain cover with their 2x2 set-up. The venerable, tank-hunting dread provides some more high str output and is hard to kill. The troops could all be geared as las/plas, but then we lack some melta fear. Unlike the SM thunderbubble, the whole list can advance and shoot, so the real punch of the bubblewrap is not lost.

STOP PRESS

So after talking to Kirby and more importantly fester on chatbox, they've suggested some changes. Fester just loves terminators so wanted 2 squads and Kirby mentioned the shooty variants. Shooty terminators don't have the funsies element the Preferred Enemy, Furious Charging lightning claws ones do and lack a 3++, but 10 of them with 8 tank-hunting missiles is nice

I like it. How are you going to silence it? The speeders shouldn't be too hard, but will all get a 4++ behind the preds (if you model them correctly ;)). Termies speak for themselves and the PotMS preds are a pain. You have less armour saturation at just 10 vehicles in comparison to 12, but the shooty termies pack a good punch to make up for it.

Any ideas people??

Oh... just realised, the second list is more of a fistbubble... i'll have to make a new label.
