"Yo.
I like your army list reviews alot and were wondering if you could look at some of my Dark Eldar drafts. Basic plan is a lot of Venoms and Ravagers.
Venom spam <3.
With the core of Warriors riding Venoms I had trouble finding a suitible HQ. The first list features the Baron along with some Hellions. His +1 to start die roll seems very good when missiles/ac rain down on the OT-AV10 Venoms turn 1. Trueborns deploy in cover with their Lances. Is it better to run them with Blasters riding Venom?
Baron Sathonyx 105
Kabalite Trueborn (5), 2 Dark Lances 110 x2 (220)
Transport: Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons 65 x2 (130)
Kabalite Warriors (5), Blaster 60 x5 (300)
Transport: Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons 65 x5 (325)
Ravager, Flickerfield 115 x3 (345)
That leaves me 325 points for some Hellions and maybe something else.
If you want to put the Trueborns with Lances I'd go with Lady Malys as your HQ. This allows you to reposition them if needed and otherwise gets you some deployment utility. The +1 roll is nice for Baron but the he and the Hellions really stick out.
Next list is with the Duke as HQ (I were considering just going with an Shadowfield/Agoniser-equipped Archon instead). Almost like the last but with a big squad of Warriors to sit back and enjoy the 3+ poison.
Duke Sliscus 150
Kabalite Trueborn (5), 2 Dark Lances 110 x2 (220)
Transport: Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons 65 x2 (130)
Kabalite Warriors (20), Splinter Cannon or Dark Lance x2 200+weapons
Kabalite Warriors (5), Blaster 60 x5 (300)
Transport: Venom, 2 Splinter Cannons 65 x5 (325)
Ravager, Flickerfield 115 x3 (345)
50ish points left.
This looks a bit better but again the Warriors kinda stick out. Duke fits really well with the list in allowing deepstriking if needed but your Venoms are only carrying a single blaster since you're not running Trueborns w/blasters and the Kabalites have only the single blaster. You could run a Haemon to make them stronger but I think I'd give that a skip. Taking Duke in this type of list I think I'd just ignore his poison ability and focus on the deep-strike ability he confers. Whilst this means you're ignoring all but one of his abilities, that deep-strike ability is pretty good. If you were playing at 2000 points I think this style list would be more capable as you can add in some Beastmasters.
Is spamming 5man Warrior/Trueborn squads in Venoms any good and how would you do it?
Thanks for any help you'll be able to provide! Keep up the good work!
Regards."
Yes it is. I'd make a point though of trying to include blast pistols in the Warrior squads and put blasters in the Trueborns. Blast Pistols are short-ranged but when crunch time comes, it's an extra anti-tank shot. The blasters in the Trueborns also make them more mobile but you can run them on foot w/Lances if you wish. If so I'd really run Lady Malys.
Otherwise here's a post I wrote up for Venom spam which could give you some more ideas.
P.S. trying this now with a different color; better?

Why not just 3 Trueborns and just 2 Dark Lances on a Raider (pseudo ravager)
i think TBs with DL don't belong on a Venom. TBs with Blasters work better on a Venom.

As to LoS, though, it could go both ways. The higher model for Raiders could give better LoS, but could also get it shot down quicker. That said, neither will be able to move, so it's all about positioning in the right way, for the right map.
And while Raiders provides more AT, I find them to be a bit hit and miss for damage, while Venoms have the reliability of massed shots. Still, he might need the extra AT, so it's a place to look at for points.
Finally, Blast Pistols. They're basically a Combi-lance. Treat them as such (and understand weither you want to buy one for 25p, or get another DL for 25p).
