Offensively Pink Episode 2 - Sympathy For the Devil

Well folks, Episode 2, Sympathy For the Devil. Today, I talk about Grey Knight troops,  and why I feel they don't quite match up to those of other armies. But it all works out in the end, don't worry.

I thought this was very helpful, thanks!

One thing though, Blood Angel tactical, assault and death co marines all get access to 6 dedicated transports.

I would suggest shortening the opening music just a bit. Besides that I loved the first and this podcast. I like the rambling myself, lol, but w/e.

It mostly comes from the difficulty of editing layered music, to cut it too much, you invariably end something halfway through a note, and its really noticeable. Short of doing 8 bit tunes or making my own intro, not much I can do.

Fading the music out would work really well, I also was thinking that it was a bit long :) That would depend on whether or not you have a program that can do that though.

I really liked this podcast! You definitely took the comments from the last one and worked on that stuff!
Better than the first one! Two things:

The jokes sounded very scripted - maybe because they were. You could think about either improving the delivery or just diverting from the script a little bit from time to time. In your first 'cast I laughed out loud at a couple of points, this one barely made me smile.

You went hard to hear about 7.00, not sure why.

Apart from that (and the fact that I have very little interest in GKs) I really enjoyed listening to you (again). Good job, and thanks for putting it up! I'm sure it'll be more helpful for people actually considering building an army of em!

They weren't ):

Hit or miss maybe? XD.

Not sure either, it actually seems to be a problem with the upload. I'll look into it.
Wow, you're the first person to say GK Strike Squad sucks!!

Not necessary a bad thing, just different I guess. I still havn't decide on how good they are until the codex is out though.
Bioshock <3

I noticed I missed your 1st podcast.... so I get 2 podcasts at once! About the 'jokes': Either be funny and believe yourself you are too, or don't try to be funny at all imo.

Apart from that it's nice to hear your thoughts, although you put your opinions quite strongly (presenting them as facts pretty much) which is fine but a bit dangerous also without testing . Well actually I do like the fact that you call GKSS kinda bad'ish, but I think your reasons 'why' are wrong/incomplete. I'll probably do a post on this as a lot of people do this...

Ha, you can't prounounce malleable.
Good podcast though. Did like how you kept trying to swear and weren't allowed.

Gutted!
Too fast... too fast. Chill out. This is the problem with a script.

Bullet points that are annotated so there is direction is nice, but fast reading is not so great.

Far better than the first though.

Keep them coming.

Thanks man. Very much a learning experience, give it time, I'll improve.

However, that is about the speed I talk. I'll have to put on my "Work Voice."

>:
Far better than the first one. If you're going to do jokes, don't call them lame yourself - you have us for that ;-)

I'm not sure I agree that henchmen being vulnerable once their transport pops means that GK have bad troops. Do they really need to be robust when they are so cheap?
Better Billy and some good thoughts. Still a bit long and can work on clearly enunciating :P. As BroLo said as well, you were reading quickly. Not everyone is used to a quick speaker so I'd attempt to measure yourself. And time manage :P.

Now we just need to get a couple of people into this and have a 3++ recorded chat...lol
It is like zero punctuation w/o the animation. I have the same problem in my presentations, especially when I am nervous... Some tips I picked up from professional courses:
1) Practise your presentation out loud, while walking accros the room. Do it often.
2) Ar-ti-cu-la-te e-ver-y syl-la-ble of the first sen-ten-ce clear-ly and slow-ly. You only need to do this the first sentence. Once you get that, the rest of your story will follow smoothly.
3) Exhale before you start a sentence. Yes, EX-hale, makes your breathing slower and more controlled.
4) To calm your nerves try and visualize a quiet place; a forest or beach perhaps. Try to smell the leaves or hear the waves. Professional athletes do this too.

I hope this helps. A bonfide 3++ college with podcasts and all would be cool :)

Well that was run 5. I do speak quickly in real life, and I've been told so before.

However, thank you very much for the advice, certainly going to be taken on board for Ep3.

Thanks man (:
He's trying to turn you into an Englishman!

But I do agree.

I'd also think a quick summary post to go with the episode might not go amiss? Highlight key points, etc. so if someone wants to go back they don't have to listen through the whole thing (or take notes) as they are right there.
I have a few feedback points, also. :)

1) End with music. I simply cannot stress this enough - it makes it much more professional, it sounds good, and it is fitting, giving people a few seconds to think about what they've just heard and to form an opinion on it more clearly. The same as the start, ideally - think of it as titles, book-ending the programme between.

2) It NEEDS multiple voices. <3 Billy, but irrespective of subject matter, the length of time I can listen to one person talk uninterrupted is limited - especially if I disagree in part. :P

3) If you can bleep out swearing easily enough, then keep it in. It's more natural, it sounds better, and it keeps the cadence of the sentence and therefore the thought. Some of my worst bits of blogging have been because I censored myself and lost the flow of the sentence.

4) If at all possible, make it a free iTunes download, not a shitty mp3. Pretty much everyone has iTunes, surely, it can generate hits for the site better that way, and it arranges it better without my ipod thinking that was a music track.

Keep it up!
your best bet would be to have someone as your counterpoint, it tends to make you have a more natural conversation, which sounds better. I find it interesting that your left and right track are at different volumes, wonder what you use to record.

Im in Glasgow Friday.
Archy give you a 7/10, feels bit bland since its just 1 person opinion (no offence, its good advice from you), some little adive try get others into your podcaste it creates a natural environment and arguments which are always funny about a point in 40k also listen to other higher rated podcaste on itunes.
