Greetings!!

Hello everyone!!!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Ashton aka "Redfinger". When I saw that Kirby was putting the call out to contributors I thought I would throw my hat in and offer what I could, after all, this is a great site and community here, and I would love to help keep it growing.

I myself am a fairly new 40k player. I have been playing now for about 8 months or so and I readily admit that I am still learning the game. Currently I am playing Blood Angels and I also have a Black Templar army that I am working on as well. I am hoping to contribute to the "hobby side" of this site. Although I am new to 40k I have been building models in one way or another for about 15 years, it is something I truly enjoy.

As this site has other contributors to this hobby aspect as well, what I would like to do is turn it over to the general community. I want to know, in relation to painting and weathering, what do you guys want to know? What modeling techniques would you all like to learn, how to do a wash, using filters, airbrushing? Lets have a discussion, then when some things have been finalized, I can take an unpainted model, and then step by step document the specific processes that you would like to see. Ideally I am thinking going from surface prep and primer, all the way to sealers and clear coats.

In the mean time, feel free to check out my online gallery, it really inst much, just a few things that I have worked on over the years.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!!!

I know Redfinger from B&C. His work is quite good. Actually, I saw the LRC there prior to it being pictured here. I'm still looking forward to it being completed. ;)
Ya I definetly need to get cracking on that. I have quite a bit of work ot complete on the detailing, this site will be a good place to document it, keep a look out for the updates.
Holy crapples, look at that LRC. Like a BT chapel on tracks ;)

And welcome! :)
Funny, I have the a bunch of the Secret Weapon bases too. Including the Ruined Temple ones. And, painted them up in pretty much the same color scheme. And yeah, stuck terminators to them. Mine aren't quite as nice looking though. :) http://nftrc.blogspot.com/2010/07/old-school-mini...
Well, if you're taking requests... I recently picked up an airbrush and have been playing around with it, but would love some miniature-centric airbrush advice. I've seen a lot of tutorials with the basic stuff out there, but some more specific techniques or advice for airbrushing at miniature scale would be awesome.

Cool, that can be done....but to get you started the first thing you have to remember when working w/ airbrushes and mini's is to keep air presurre low, and paint thin. Assuming you have a dual action brush it also helps to remove the front cone and just expose the needle, you have to be careful not to damage the needle, but with practice you should be able to get down to a 1/8in line!

Check out the Dire Troll Mauler that I did in my gallery, that was mostly done w/ an airbrush.
I for one would love to know a lot more about airbrushing, there seems to be little in the way fo resources as to a beginners guide etc so I'd love it if you could enlighten me :) x
I've never been able to wrap my head around drybrushing. I know it's, like, basic tech, but I can't figure it out.
Cool stuff in your albums, looking forward to your articles!
+1 for airbrushing
Also maybe some vehicle painting tips like how to make edge highlights look all perfect and straight like on GW's official models.
Oh and Ashton, if you want an about me just email me a quick one and will put it up on the About Blog/Authors page.
Thanks for all the feed back guys!!! I will start w/ some airbrush basics and ideas. So look for that in the next week or so. I would like to try and get at least one post a week in for you guys, maybe more as time permits, I too am a college student, so time availability changes quite a bit some times!
