Metatransition - Loganwing

GW
In 5th Loganwing was an excellent foot list due to mobile firepower, good basic Troops and good supporting units. It used the easy and durable cover system of 5th edition to keep foot Marines alive and through sheer weight of firepower/attacks, could push opponents off the board. Unfortunately cover has changed significantly - we'll see if this impacts Loganwing significantly in 6th.

Email in: Loganwing

"Hi Kirby,

First off, love the blog. Your articles have really helped me become a better player and inspired me alot. Have been reading avidly for about 6 months now and always get excited when I see a new article has been posted!

Anyway, I have been trying to create a semi-competitive Loganwing list and was wondering what you thought of it. In particular I am worried that it might not have enough anti-tank. Without further ado here is the list.

How To: Loganwing

Dakka

A list we mention a lot on 3++ is Loganwing yet we've never really done an article looking at the army. Let's rectify that ^^.

Loganwing is one of the premier foot lists in 5th edition for a number of reasons. The most important is mobile firepower thanks to Terminator based Cyclone Missile Launchers. There are static firepower elements as well (Long Fangs) but the majority of the army is based around units which can move and shoot missiles. This is very important to provide tactical depth to the army and not only allows the heavy weapons to be moved into advantageous positions to fire (i.e. side shots, avoid cover, get Line of Sight) but also pressure and/or react to the opponent's army.

Back to Basics - What am I missing .... ?

Hi guys, long time no see.
Well life has thrown me another bundle of joy, a son, Lachlan (or fester jnr as he may be known in time). He is great, but unfortunately eats into my hobby time just a little.
But back to relevance. What this does give me is a lot of list writing and perfecting time, even if I don't have to much time to actually blog, play, or paint such lists.

I am currently battling with a Loganwing list, and wanted to talk a little about my experiences building an elite army.

First: Purgatus is doing a Loganwing how-to on his blog Best Overall. If you don't follow this you need to, its in depth (so far), logical and well thought out. Now if he would just get onto the Troops section *nudge nudge*.

Email In - Space Wolves 1500pts

HQ:
Logan Grimnar
Rune Priest (Terminator Armor, JotWW, Living Lightning, Chooser of the Slain)

Troops:
Wolf Guard Pack x5 (1 Terminator Armor with Cyclone Missle Launcher)
Wolf Guard Pack x5 (1 Terminator Armor with Cyclone Missle Launcher)
Wolf Guard Pack x5 (1 Terminator Armor with Cyclone Missle Launcher)
Wolf Guard Pack x5 (1 Terminator Armor with Cyclone Missle Launcher)
Wolf Guard Pack x5 (1 Terminator Armor with Cyclone Missle Launcher)

Heavy Support:
Long Fangs x6 (5x Missle Launcher)
Long Fangs x6 (5x Missle Launcher)
Long Fangs x6 (5x Missle Launcher)

Essentially the point is to overwhelm early with lots of missle shots.  If set up correctly (and with a bad set up from the opponent) you can put 25 ML shots first turn - whether Krak or Frag it is going to do a lot of damage.

But you guys are the experts.  Wanted to run it by you since a lot of other sites have people who respond with things that make no comprehensible sense.
