Metatransition - Scarab Farm

BoLS
Necrons on the whole transferred pretty well so most of their builds can be assume to have transferred well. Let's look at how the infamous Scarab farm did.

The Scarab farm was all about taking tiny amounts of Scarabs and turning them into huge units with nine Spyders. This provided really large Scarab units which could molest even moving vehicles and leave points free for other Necron goodies. In 5th edition it had a few flaws though - Scarabs would hit vehicles, drop them to paper thin armor, destroy them and then turn around and die. Scarabs were a great unit when supported by extra firepower but by taking nine Spyders, one would often lose a key support unit in the Annihilation Barge. Imothek was also common with Farm lists which meant Necron shooting was impacted negatively as well - what are Necrons good at again?

Metatransition - Loganwing

GW
In 5th Loganwing was an excellent foot list due to mobile firepower, good basic Troops and good supporting units. It used the easy and durable cover system of 5th edition to keep foot Marines alive and through sheer weight of firepower/attacks, could push opponents off the board. Unfortunately cover has changed significantly - we'll see if this impacts Loganwing significantly in 6th.

Metatransition - Tesla spam Necrons

40k Nation

Tesla spam in 5th was about putting as much tesla on the table to simply destroy vehicles through weight of fire. The issue was Tesla weapons maxed out at S7 and had AP - and unlike Grey Knight Passback based armies, that S7 didn't have Rending. This meant dealing with higher AVs consistently could be difficult for Tesla-based Necron armies and thus Command Barges, Scarabs & Crypteks to shore this up. So how does this translate to 6th edition...

Metatransition - T6'R'Us Tyranids

Tyranids really were hurting in 5th edition to the point they had one major build - lots of T6. There were lots of variations around this but the core was generally Tervigons + Hive Guard, as many T6 MCs as could be fit in and whatever support (i.e. Genestealers, more little gribblies like Hormagaunts, Termagants, etc. Raveners, Tyranid Primes, etc.). The issue generally was lots and lots of high strength, low AP shooting could deal with the mass T6 over an average game and vehicles in general posed a problem Tyranids, particularly in combat. Let's see how this list transfers to 6th...

Metatransition - Gundam Tau

Dakka
So starting the Metatransition posts (well, following-up on the Venomspam one and the Kan Wall - thanks fester!), we'll look at how the Tau monobuild (aka Gundam Tau). In 5th edition this had evolved to basically being suit spam - lots of Crisis Suits, lots of Broadsides with the occasional vehicle. Generally Devilfish/Warfish (Devilfish with lots of offensive upgrades), Piranhas and a token Hammerhead. The core of the list was the Suits though with a Kroot bubble-wrap and Piranha blockers so how does this transfer to 6th?

Metatransition - Ork Kan Wall in 6th Edition

The other kind of Kan Wall.
Image from televation.com.

I had a question in a previous post - how can you bring the 5th ed Kan Wall into 6th edition, when all your vehicles have a measley 2 HP each, and die to a stiff breeze?

I claimed this was quite easy, and I stand by my previous statement.

So before I rattle out the concept, let me outline one thing.

I will not be providing you a list here. I will be providing you ideas to work from. Why? I honestly don't know the end codex well enough to list write it properly, so I don't want to mess up the upgrades for you all.
