Grey Knights List thoughts: GKBomb

Welcome back to fester's crazy thoughts. I apologize for my last post creating such anger and hate. Before I get onto the content I just want to say this: I still think it works, I don't want it to and I expect GW to FAQ it.

Right, ideas.

Well, recently on BoLs, Goatboy has done up a GK Shunt list, where the DreadKnights and Interceptors shunt into the enemy lines in the Scout move (from the Grandmaster) and go all shenanigans on you.

I want to consider something similar, but a little less "FAQable".
I am thinking an old school CSM DaemonBomb list.

So to quickly cover a few bases, like a traditional DaemonBomb list this suffers from the following:
- One Trick Pony
- First turn reliance
- Doesn't work with DoW
- Will possibly cause raging if it works, people laughing at you if it fails.
- Eggs-in-one-basket-isms

So, our list @ 1750.

Let's start with our "Champion", the thing that will get us to our destination.

Librarian, Teleport Homer, Summoning, Sanctuary
Stormraven
= 380 points

This is the combo. 12 inch move, 6 inch Sanctuary, dropping off a Dread and the contents.
So, we will take 2 of these.

Then, our daemons. We have 2 options depending on how you feel.

Option 1:
5 GK Terminators, 5 Halberds
5 GKSS, 2 psycannons
2 xVenerable Dreadnought
2 x Dreadknight, Heavy Incinerator

Option 2:
2 x 5 GK Terminators, 5 Halberds
2 xVenerable Dreadnought, Warp Stabilisation Field
2 x Dreadnought

Either way, the plan is the same:

Stormraven carrying 1 Librarian, 1 Troops choice, 1 Dreadnought.
Move 12, Summoning the other dreadnought/knight as far forward as possible (Venerables are tough but wont be able to shoot after the summon, Dreadknights have flamers so need to be as close as possible)
Disembark the contents, try and  crack some vehicles and roast/eat the contents, and prepare to be counter charged. When they do countercharge, hit them with Sanctuary and crush them in CC.

* This is not a GT-winning list, but its certainly a fun list with most of the toys.
Can this be tuned further, sure, it can and will.

Option 1 @ 1750
2x Librarian, Teleport Homer, Summoning, Sanctuary
2 xVenerable Dreadnought
5 GK Terminators, 5 Halberds
5 GKSS, 2 psycannons
2 x Stormraven
2 x Dreadknight, Heavy Incinerator

18 models, 4 vehicles, 2 MC, 12 infantry

Option 2 @ 1750
2 x Librarian, Teleport Homer, Summoning, Sanctuary
2 xVenerable Dreadnought, Warp Stabilisation Field
2 x 5 GK Terminators, 5 Halberds
2 x Stormraven
2 x Dreadnought

18 models, 6 vehicles, 12 infantry.

If you want to run a super-elite GK army thats going to be fun, what have you got to lose. I know that most Marine players could whip up an army like this, just proxying the Stormravens, from their bitz boxes.

First off, summoning is at the beginning of the movement phase, so you can't move forward in the raven and then summon. Also note that the teleport homer does NOT prevent scatter when using The Summoning, it only work with "teleport deep strikes", not any deep strike. That being said, it's still quite a reliable power if you are near a servo-skull. You might want to get some.

Other then that, yeah, looks like an okay slam. Be really fun when it works. =)

I missed that! Bugger.

Oh well, swap the homer for 3 servo skulls each. Same price and concept :)
Yeah, it's a commonly missed thing. =) It's aight though,as summoning near a servo skull is hardly dangerous if you give yourself just a little bit of room.
Why would you bother doing daemon bombing with teleport homers? Take two generic inqs each with 3 skulls and psychic communion, and just drop off those. You'll get everything on turn 2 and 3, scatter will be minimal, and suffers MUCH less from the issues you described in the first part of the post.

Also, you skipped putting teleport homers on your SRs. For 30 more points, you'd have another two teleport homers on really huge models. I'm sure you can see some utility in that.
